Odds and Ends

As I was driving home from the PMQG meeting on Thursday, I ran into this.

I knew I was in for a bit of a wait until the bridge went down, so I started scrolling through my camera to see what pictures I had to pass the time.

I found this video of Fritz, which makes me laugh. For awhile, I was feeding him wet food, which he started to expect every time I went into the kitchen. As soon as I started moving in that direction, he would run for the kitchen, and stop to meow at me along the way.

As you can see in the video, he's not the most graceful cat in the world. He does stuff like this all the time. I don't think cats are supposed to be like this...I mean, shouldn't they be graceful? Agile?

The whole reason I had my camera at all was because my friend Amelia and I went to the airport to pick up an international staff member who was arriving from Taiwan to work at the summer camp I worked at last year, and we wanted some pictures of us waiting at the security checkpoint.

Since figuring out the airport when you've arrived in a foreign country can be very stressful, Amelia and I decided to make sure we were really visible, so when she got through the gate she would know that we were there to pick her up.

Mission accomplished!

Fleas

Fritz has been doing a lot of this lately.

Turns out the fleas I thought I had gotten rid of where just hiding. Poor guy. I got the real heavy duty flea treatment from the vet, so hopefully he won't be so darn itchy all the time.

The vet also suggested I give Fritz a bath to get some of the fleas off of him.

Moving Day

I haven't been sewing much lately. My brother and I have been cleaning out our childhood home in hopes of renting it out, and it's been a process! There is a lifetime's worth of stuff in that house.

When I was working on my old bedroom I found something that I've thought about a lot since I started quilting.

I must have gotten this for Christmas one year as a kid. It's a set of wooden blocks that you can arrange anyway you want. I used to play with the blocks for hours coming up with different patterns. I'd take it on plane flights to pass the time.

I mean, these are so obviously translatable into quilt blocks! I was interested in quilting before I even knew what it was, and now I kind of want to make a top with these blocks. I think they look so well together. I'm glad I found this, I'm sure I'll get some good inspiration out of it.

And, in an unrelated note, here is Fritz, trying to lay on the gas stove even though he is a bit to big for it.
